Another one to watch is The Day Before, an ambitious - possibly over ambitious - survival MMO where you'll attempt to survive a zombie apocalypse in a similar vein to DayZ. I spoke to CEO Aaryn Flynn last year about how it wants to be a survival game with a richer set of storylines, so we'll see how that pans out at launch later this year. First up is Inflexion Studio's Nightingale, an open-world survival 'em up where you'll build decks that'll warp you to different realms filled with friendlies and foes. For one, since this is obviously a PC port with mobile origins, the tutorial still says “tap” instead of “click.” Another thing that was ported over was the lack of chat settings. Also worth keeping in mind is the slew of upcoming survival games due out this year, as there's a fair few with great potential.

However, there are still some issues with the game. There are also multiplayer features like Alliances, wherein you team up with other players to take down difficult boss enemies for greater rewards. It’s an idle game so things accumulate offline.

Meanwhile, you also have to manage resource-gathering and base-building for your settlement. The characters auto-attack so you just need to worry about timing. As an MMORTS, the combat consists of you clicking on where your Heroes need to go and where their abilities need to be activated-whether it’s a placeable gun turret or a pipe bomb. The main story is fully voiced and follows a linear script. The plot centers around your team as they try to stay alive in their dying world. Here, you get to play and collect different characters called “ Heroes” who have different combat abilities and roles in your settlement. In State of Survival, the world has been ravaged by a zombie virus outbreak, forcing humanity to survive in a collapsed society.
